Below you will find 10 common questions regarding contact lens.

What are the best contact lenses?

Soft disposable lenses are the most popular contact lenses on the market today. These contacts are designed for daily disposal, two-week disposal, or monthly disposal. Each different replacement schedule has its own benefits.

Are contacts right for me?

With the help of technology today, almost anyone can wear contact lenses comfortably, even if they need correction for astigmatism, wear bifocal lenses, or have dry eyes.

However, there are some people that contact lenses may not be right for. If you’re someone who has irregularities in the cornea on the front of your eye, had previous eye surgeries, or other eye health problems, they may not be right for you.

The only way to actually know if contacts are right for you is to visit your eye doctor.

Can I sleep in my contacts?

There are some contact lenses that are FDA approved to sleep in. However, taking your contacts out before you go to bed is still the safest practice.

Why is my vision blurry, even with my contacts in?

You want clear, comfortable vision. After all, that is why you decided to get contacts, right? If you’re experiencing blurry or hazy vision even with your contacts in, you could be experiencing one of the following:

  • Deposits on your contact lens

  • Your lens or eye is dry

  • There was movement or rotation in your lens

  • Your prescription changed

  • An eye health problem

Can I swim with my contacts in?

The simple answer is, no.

Can I buy contact lenses online without a prescription?

In the United States, you cannot legally buy contact lenses without a prescription.

I don’t think I can put something in my eye. What can I do to help?

This is a very common concern for first-time contact wearers. To help you out, first, get comfortable touching your eye without applying contacts. To do this, place a warm drop of water on your finger. The water has a numbing effect and helps you to not even feel your finger touching your eye.

Getting used to touching your eye and applying contacts is easier than you think. In fact, many people often question why they were so worried in the first place, and wish they would have made the decision to wear contacts earlier!

Can I play sports with my contacts?

One reason that many people make the switch from glasses to contacts is that they play sports or are active. Contacts are the ideal solution for athletes and active people.

Is it hard to take care of contacts?

It depends on what kind of contact lenses you decide to get. GP contacts can last for years, however, they need to be cleaned and disinfected every day. Daily disposable contact lenses are worn once and then thrown away, so no maintenance with those. Other disposable contacts are usually cleaned at the end of the day and then soaked in disinfecting solution until they’re worn again.

Can I wear ripped or torn contacts?

You should never wear a torn contact lens. Torn contact lenses are not only uncomfortable to wear, but they can also cause harm to your eye.

Don’t feel bad if your contacts tear or rip, though. This is very common for everyone that wears them. If this happens to you, just throw the pair out.
